Good People, Toxic Culture

Pros

Some of best humans I’ve ever gotten the chance to work with. Seriously, a mission-oriented company like Grand Rounds is able to attract some really good talent. More than good, I’d say the bulk of the company is made up of really kind folks. However, slowly but surely, those folks have been leaving and that is due to major leadership and culture issues.

Cons

Patients do not really come first at Grand Rounds. Grand Rounds is 100% sales driven which means teams like product, engineering, and marketing operate at the whim of the ever-growing, ever-dominant sales team. Teams are constantly given top-down directives and so many at the company don’t feel supported by their managers. Good managers are hard to come by at Grand Rounds and that is sad, because there are some really strong ICs not being recognized for all that they do and the weight they carry. I’ve never worked in a more political environment - you don’t win based on merits at Grand Rounds - it’s a political game and the leaders who remain at the company have worked hard to remain in the CEO’s “inner circle.” Culture will ultimately kill the company. Bullying, political games, and non-inclusiveness are turning the company toxic.

Pros

Remote Remote Remote Remote remote

Cons

Workloads, Corporate dictating company policy with no idea how the front line workers work increasing stress levels and work loads. The only way to complete all my work in a day, is to stay after and work while clocked out, which is encouraged. Our Resources that we are REQUIRED to use are all out of date, and dont work properly. Google is literally our most used tool for finding providers. There is no work life balance, you can take time off work, however you still get work and cases and have to address them all when you are back. Its so great taking a vacation and knowing my work load is growing and that my cases arent being touched, so I have to worry about them all while trying to enjoy vacation. Not to mention in my area, Grocery store clerks and gas station attendants make more money than we do. When asked about pay increase, they say we get paid adequately for our job. A GROCERY STORE STOCKER MAKES MORE MONEY THAN WE DO, WITH WAY LESS STRESS AND STIPULATIONS. This is not a good place to work.

This is important feedback and never the experience we want a team member to have. As a current member of the team, we encourage you to reach out to your Manager or Talent Partner to discuss your particular situation and how they can support with your compensation and leadership concerns.

Pros

Remote first culture. Start up environment. Ability to own big projects and make own decisions. Helping people with medical care

Cons

Management. Basing reviews on PR count/code commits not actual work helping others and fixing revenue leaks. Huge fires to put out every day which costs the company tons in missed revenue. Culture declined after merger.

Thanks for your insight as a Software Engineer at Included, and for highlighting so many of the elements that make our company a hub of innovation and growth. The merger did come with lots of change, and our leaders are focused on continuing to shift towards proactivity and making our processes stronger and more efficient.
