Over run with consultants

Pros

The company is a great location and the associates are great people who are passionate about the work and the customers.

Cons

The company has focused more on profits and growth over serving the community which is a big cultural change from the original mission. As result layoffs during 2008 and 2009 demanded more work for less people and as economy has improved the staff levels have remained the same while the number of consultants and contractors has increased. IBC employees now serve the consultants instead of consultants serving the employees. Senior management is very close with the consultants which raises a whole host of ethical issues. Burnout is high among the associates. It is not uncommon to be on call seven days a week and if provided with a company phone, emails and texts are expected to be answered at night, weekends and when on vacation. There is no mental downtime. Once in the door pay raises are minimal. The maximum is about 2% if one gets that at all. Bonuses are decent for managers and above but not for the non-management associates. The executives make out like bandits which is evident in the executive parking area.

Pros

A gym in the building is nice. The people that I have worked with over the years make it nice. The location to shops, eateries and coffee shops makes it nice. The concept of the company and culture is good.

Cons

The outsourcing and the mindset of some of the management makes getting things done too difficult at times. People are most likely stressed or bitter due to layoffs and having more work dumped on them.

Pros

If you're in IT, there is no good reason to work for this company.

Cons

Laying off large numbers of IT staff, and expecting remaining staff to pick up slack for two years. Then laying them off, and outsourcing their jobs to India, while forcing them to teach their replacements their jobs.
