Pros

Opportunity to work for a well known company if you are interested in health insurance. Blue Cross has major brand recognition. The Account & Senior Account Executives seem well off.

Cons

Salary is low in comparison to other companies and the yearly raises are not significant. Opportunity for advancement is not for everyone, based on availability as opposed to transitioning employees to advance.

Pros

The benefit package is awesome, especially the ability to purchase up to five additonal days of vacation, and if not used by the end of the year--they can be cashed back in. It's nice to get an extra week of pay in December if you sell back your days, just as it is nice to have an extra five days if something comes up. Flexible workign hours and the ability to work from home.

Cons

Leadership changes direction too frequently; expectations are that you are available 24/7; not everyone is held accountable for their actions. Have to purchase your own office supplies.

Pros

People are good to work with. Benefits are good. Free gym on-site is a wonderful benefit. Much of the building has been renovated which has made it feel better to work there. Work / life balance is respected.

Cons

IT community is not well respected at Independence Blue Cross. Certain areas of the business do rely and welcome IT and architecture, but as a whole, IT and architecture seem to be treated like a "necessary evil". Lines of communication across business sectors and up and down the employee hierarchy is lacking. Too many projects and activities to juggle make performing good work relatively difficult to do. Something or another will have to suffer while trying to balance the work load.
