Pros

Our philosophy is simple-great food, ridiculously great service, every meal, every resident, no exceptions, no excuses. We use fresh ingredients and fresh not frozen proteins. We create menus weekly and are limited only by lack of imagination. We think outside the box to compose beautiful meals that not only taste great and meet our residents nutritional needs but also push us to become immersed in our craft-culinary arts. We are supported in our quest to be the best in senior living by dedicated, hospitality driven professional chefs. The support and vision is truly inspiring!

Cons

The relationships we build with our residents is one of the keys to our success and growth as culinary professionals. In senior living It can be tough when these relationships come to a sudden end.

Pros

This is a company that truly cares about the people they serve. I was told this from fellow management of my location when I first started. This had been a mindset I had heard before from lower management of other companies I had worked for, but the higher you went, the farther you went from those core values. This is not the case with CSIG/Independence Village. Having been employed just over a year I have had the great opportunity to meet with most of the executives and the belief has been the same, "Yes growth is exciting in business, however we will not sacrifice the quality of life we provide our residents." From the top down and the bottom up, this is a company that truly cares about their residents (customers) above all else. There are great plans for growth in the company over the next 10 years and it is comforting knowing that morals and ideals will not be placed on the back burner to facilitate this. Additionally, this is a wonderful place to work if you truly have a respect and desire to serve our senior community. I love the fact that I hear wonderful stories of achievement and hardship everyday. Our residents shaped the society we live in today, and it is a wonderful experience to hear about the road taken to get here. I know we are "doing right by them" when I see a new resident moves in and after a month or so we see a huge increase in strength and see him or her socializing and making new friends. It is truly rewarding to see the many success stories everyday and knowing the work you do does make a difference in someone's life.

Cons

Being in a distant property from the home office can lead to a feeling of isolation at times. The residents in your community become family so if and when they pass it hits home.

Pros

This company has truly allowed employees to have input into making things better. Your voice is heard, and suggestions are seriously considered.

Cons

There seems to be some inconsistency as far as standardization across all communities, spread across 2 states, and soon to include many others.
