Pros

Unfortunately, I don't have anything nice to say at this point.

Cons

I worked for IU Health for over 15 years and it has changed immensely since I started . This was a great place to work where the nursing staff felt valued, management listened to concerns, and tried to make a change . IU Health has forgotten that each person has value. They only see the numbers and the return on investment. A lot of great doctors and nurses have left because " they don't drink the cool aide". To the point that patient care has and does suffer. Management is so concerned about keeping their jobs that they really don't listen or care about those providing the care. They will just hire any new grad that fills the shoes for less money. Supporting the staff is not a priority especially trying to retain the experienced members of the team .

Pros

Good team work at all times - great people to work with.

Cons

Total disregard to patient / staff ratio, making it unsafe for quality care and put license on the line every day worked. Inexperienced shift coordinators (new nurses, little experience), poor attitudes towards nurses and ancillary services alike by management. The expectancies of the nurses increase all the time, i.e. more duties, higher patient care ratio, less staff and tell the care givers that they realize they are putting more on everyone in their job; however, they are "certain that the quality of care will not suffer or change" and everyone best be clocked out on time. Most Unit Managers are strictly management nurses and have never or only short term working as a staff nurse and are often unable to do what they are demanding of their staff. Overall, poor working conditions / expectations of staff are ridiculous.
