Toxic Culture

Pros

Well paying jobs, good amount of opportunity

Cons

Company is run by social elite, typical ponzi scheme structure. Culture is absolutely embedded in an elitist mentality, you are either in with the popular kids or you are not. Promotions, accolades and even career termination is mainly determined by who you know and how well you know them. One's body of work, work ethic and ability to tackle problems both internally and externally will certainly come into play as one goes through their career at Informatica, however it will always be trumped by your social status in the company's toxic social culture.

We are sorry you have such a negative view of our culture. It is very puzzling, as your co-workers in Austin rate our culture 4.47 out of 5 stars according to Glassdoor. As announced at our most recent All-Hands meeting April 18th, we are beginning a round of goal- and performance-oriented discussions between managers and their teams precisely to ensure that career advancement and rewards are based on merit and achievement. Informatica is also about to release its global employee engagement survey, so it will be instructive to see how the Company at large evaluates our culture. Lastly, we acknowledge that Informatica is not for everyone. It is not only a collegial and collaborative environment, but also one that demands top effort and performance. If you are unhappy here, you can discuss your concerns confidentially with your HR representative or seek a situation more aligned with your values. Either way, we wish you the best of luck.

Pros

Excellent products, great product engineering Loyal customer base Enormous market potential, well positioned as a leader in growing market Cloud presents a huge opportunity which is exciting Generally positive culture of people, most attempt to be good and do the right thing if they can Informatica has continued to grow despite its problems in some key areas

Cons

Massive turnover in sales for at least 2-3 years now, 30%-70% per year depending on region and role Frustration in sales is pretty intense Marketing is antiquated at best and has totally missed the boat on possibilities to expand the Informatica brand and lead the market in the new world of data. Our competition smokes us in field marketing and using innovative and fresh techniques to reach new markets and buyers. The more industrious sales people do a lot of their own marketing, build their own contact systems and buy tools to deliver fresh messages to new markets to do what marketing has not bee able to do The sales infrastructure is broken. The system was so broken this year in 2015 that salespeople got a standard draw in Q1 since sales operations and finance couldn't figure it out. Sales Operations leadership is the archetype of what not to do in business, bonus and comp plans are unclear in many cases, are not well thought out and are misleading Informatica doesn't integrate its own data well at all. Our CRM system is a mess. Sales and marketing leadership reacts, thinks short term and cripples sales by being disruptive and desperate for quick results. Sales management does the best it can but these issues all stem from the top and in trying to accommodate so many political agendas in the company

Pros

Work life balance. I have never seen less accountability amongst employees in my whole entire life.

Cons

I have worked in IT for 20 years and I am used to being the only or one of very few woman. There are a fair number of women here and consistently, they are treated like wall flowers who really shouldn't say too much. I have never seen women so dismissed in every conversation as I have with this company. There is a real culture problem. Consistently, men take over conversations, interrupt women, promote men over women (except in one case where yes she is dating a VP), ask men who report to women if what the woman has said is correct. Honestly- there needs to be some change here. Other con- It feels like high school 2.0 where little is accomplished, the strategy is unclear other than to increase margins. The only solution the company has is to cut costs while at the same time pursuing low margin Cloud business. The executives are shifting around. They seem like good time guys and not really have a good focus on how to properly run and company and meet deadlines. They are all over the place.

Senior Vice President and Chief Human Resources Officer I regret to hear that you have a negative view of what it’s like for women working at Informatica. As the head of Human Resources, I take this very seriously and strongly encourage you, and anyone else that feels this way, to reach out to me directly so we may discuss these concerns. Please know that Informatica is opposed to any type of discrimination and it is only by pursuing such instances of bias that we can properly address and resolve them.
