Pros

+ Product Stack People Know + Old Name that never dies + Mostly good colleagues + Work/Life ok

Cons

+ Management who are unfamiliar with the product and the problem customers face + Product improvements completely out of line with what customers ask for and what competitors are bringing to market + CEO And VP have no interest in interacting with you as an employee or person even at events. They just stare and walk away. + Extremely Rude and Condescending Management + Old Dinosaur Culture that is un moving and stuck in the " this is the way we do things" + Unlimited PTO a farse.. as having been told by one superior "well you took PTO before you joined our company", why do you need it over summer. (Mind you management of course took it to sit on a Mexican beach). + Losing Ground to competitors very fast. In short order the newer cloud group will be unable to compete with folks like Mule & Snap & Boomi. + PE Play a total disaster as are most of these acquisitions. As one colleague optimistically put it "maybe we'll ipo in a few years", which resulted in giggles at the pure idiocy.

We regret that you have a negative view of your former workplace. Since we cannot know how long ago you left, it’s hard to address your comments. A lot has changed, and mostly for the good. Senior leadership has had some changes, but the executive team we have now joined us from blue-chip companies such as Oracle, IBM, SAS, and other firms. Our PTO policy does require your manager’s approval of your requests as it would at any time. As for going private, that strategy has been explained in detail to employees several times: we did so to gain the flexibility required to spur innovation and adapt our organization to the ever-changing world of business solutions. Being publicly-held is just one financial model, and it is appropriate for some businesses but not all. Whether or not we return to the public equity markets is not something about which we would speculate in an open forum.

Pros

None anymore since the private equity guys took over.

Cons

What used to be a technologically innovative company is being slowly reduced to ashes thanks to the bean counter Private Equity guys and overpaid myopic Informatica management. Highly talented American engineers were laid off last August and the layoffs continue in small bunches despite management promises not to layoff anyone else. Now that Informatica is private, they no longer have to file WARN notices. Entire engineering teams have been laid off and operations outsourced to the Bangalore R&D office. Management then collects air miles flying back and forth not really doing anything productive. Whatever code gets produced takes twice as long to debug and there was intense pressure during the v10 final build. The Indian engineers are then brought in on L1B visas (for which no prevailing wage exists) and pressured to work long hours which they do because they have no worker protections.

You make a lot of assertions, but the facts do not support them. Informatica continues to be recognized for technical innovation - Gartner lists Informatica as a "Leader" in seven distinct enterprise software Magic Quadrant categories (as recently as this week) and a "Visionary" in one more. At the time we announced the completion of our privatization, we laid out the re-structuring strategy and the timelines for it. We also made a commitment that no additional layoffs were planned and we have kept that promise. Your accusation that the Company mistreats its workers is, to the best of our knowledge, completely without merit. If you have evidence to the contrary, you should take it to your HR Business Partner. Informatica has a written policy to protect whistle blowers, so you can make your case without fear of retribution. Your characterization of doom and gloom doesn't jibe with the fact that we have exceeded our revenue projections since we went private (and announced it to all employees as part of our commitment to open and transparent communications). Your comments indicate that you are clearly unhappy at Informatica. No employer is right for everyone. We would encourage you to use the holidays to reflect on your career. All of us have a choice: we can embrace the mission and vision of Informatica and do our utmost to make it a success, or we can find someplace else where we can do so. We hope you make the right decision for you and have a happier 2016. Good luck.

Sexual harassment and lack of career advancement

Pros

Informatica had relatively good benefits and a strong reputation in data integration.

Cons

During my time at Informatica a few years ago, I was sexually harassed by executives and peers. After the unwanted and unprofessional advances, I spoke to HR and management. Even though I had been promoted prior to speaking to HR and my management about the sexual harassment, I was not promoted after speaking up. I was not alone-- I spoke to other women at Informatica about their experiences with sexual harassment. I told HR in my exit interview I was leaving because of the sexual harassment and lack of advancement. After leaving Informatica, I did advance in my career and am glad I left. However, I hoped that my speaking up at Informatica would make things better for other women at Informatica. Unfortunately, I have heard/seen reviews from other women that the sexual harassment and lack of career advancement for women remains.

I regret to hear that you have a negative view of Informatica. As the head of Human Resources, I take this very seriously and strongly encourage you, and anyone else that feels this way, to reach out to me directly so we may discuss these concerns. Please know that Informatica is opposed to any type of harassment or discrimination and it is only by pursuing such instances of bias that we can properly address and resolve them.
