Pros

The work can be interesting and challenging as the company transitions to a subscription business model over the past four years and revamped its IT technologies to support the new business models. You get to work with a variety of software platforms. The CIO seems to genuinely care to make things better. The company pays good salaries (benefits are so-so) but beware that this is how they trap people. There are some nice colleagues. It depends on where you work. The campus is nice with good amenities such as cafeterias, access to a gym with pool, and volleyball courts. There are open spaces to walk or run during breaks.

Cons

The company was founded by Indians and the majority of employees are Indians, especially in IT. There is a significant amount of cronyism throughout the company (and even some nepotism). A lot of the executives are making mega-salaries and promoting their own people to positions of power. If you are Indian decent you may have a better chance of succeeding. Some business departments ran by powerful old-timers cannibalize/take over other areas. There is no balance of powers. Non-Indian management looks the other or quit out of frustration. The company has been trying to hire for more diversity but it can’t seem to retain the good hires long enough. In the time I have been here I have seen many people leave or be let go. The CIO has been trying to bring good caliber professionals to the organization but many don't last. It will be hard for him to retain good people while his subordinates sabotage anyone they perceive as a threat to their power or job security. We lost several C-level executives this year, which is concerning. As far as IT management, the old-timers can be extremely deceptive, self-serving, and territorial. They can also be abusive and manipulative with their staff; waving carrots and sticks to control their employees for their own agendas. These teams are very toxic and not safe. Be ready to get consumed by politics and non-stop sabotage. Given all these limitations and inefficiencies, IT has to rely on external consultants to implement the bigger projects.

Thanks for the feedback and sharing your experience with Informatica. We want to thank you for taking the time to give us your feedback. This definitely is surprising and concerning, and we take it seriously. We are proud of the IT organization we have built, and pleased to be recognized by Computer World as winning the “Best Place to Work in IT” for six years in a row. As you said, the company is going through a transformation, and with every transformation, change is inevitable and healthy. Also, because of the transformation, IT has significant opportunities to directly contribute to the company’s success in meaningful ways, which often is not the case in other organizations. We are open to feedback and support transparent communication and feedback. We encourage you to reach out to the leaders in IT and/or in HR to discuss your concerns, which will enable us to create actionable plans to help the entire IT team evolve and succeed.

Pros

Great office and location Benefits are fantastic Leading Industry Solutions

Cons

If you believe in Ethical Behavior, Integrity, and Honesty you must leave those at the front door. These are not openly followed by mid level and senior management. Lack of respect for employees Blatant decisions to improve one's career vs. what is best for Informatica No accountability for improper behavior. The soul and culture in the Austin office in 3 short months has been successfully exterminated. IPO at whatever means at the expense of the front line is current trend. Lack of diversity for women. Continue to hire Oracle folks ( Mostly White Males)-believe this is a desire to turn the culture to one of Micro Managing and form a "Good Ole Boy" System.

Thank you for taking the time to share your opinions, as we value input from both current and former team members. The company has invested tremendously in our Austin office and our footprint continues to grow each year. Further, we were pleased to be recognized among Austin’s Top Workplaces in 2018. Informatica is opposed to any situation or occurrence that doesn’t meet our ethical standards and company values. We encourage you to reach out to your leadership or the HR Compliance team to raise any concern you may have in order that it can be addressed.

Pros

Great products and install base. Happy customers. Sales comp plans were good.

Cons

Unrealistic goal setting, major disruptions in sales territories and coverage assignments have caused high turnover and hurt sales growth. Communication from exec management is poor.

Thank you for your review. When a business undertakes the kind of fundamental changes Informatica has, there will be significant impact throughout the organization. We tried to anticipate that and prepare our customers and employees accordingly. Feedback from customers has been overwhelmingly affirmative. Employees have been generally positive, as well (Informatica still rates higher on Glassdoor than our peer companies, for example). We put particular emphasis on communicating as frequently and openly as we can. And we recently introduced an additional bonus program to reward our people even more for their efforts. We also paid out our existing corporate bonus at 103% of plan. We continue to monitor our environment to ensure that Informatica remains one of the most desirable and rewarding places to work.
