Pros

Good place to start your career, not really for a long run though. Its up to you to grow your career path without depending on your leadership, lot of opportunity to do that. Seems to be growing fast but, need proper planning before diving into projects.

Cons

Leadership needs to get a sense of direction to drive the company. Not everything can be an emergency, how can the teams survive if nothing goes planned and is treated only as urgency. Bonus is a Joke!! False promises about raises and promotions to a number of employees. Hard to have a work-life balance. Systems broken, processes not set up that creates a daily trouble for people trying to do something productive out there.

It wasn't as bad as some of these reviews

Pros

Some of these reviews are making me scratch my head. 1. Bonuses were not a "joke" as someone stated. I know whole teams who received bonuses. I received bonuses throughout my time there. The insinuation that only the ones that were friendly with their bosses is a lie. The products we worked on also actually "worked". There were plenty of teams in Bowie with people who couldn't write basic SQL. They are probably the ones complaining about this company using SQL. I don't recall ever working in a software company that didn't use SQL, esp. one that deals with health care DATA. 2. They do use a lot of people on H1B. H1Bs were not restricted from growing within the company however. If you didn't get promoted, your visa status didn't have anything to do with it. 3. I had MS office 2010 installed on my machine in 2011. Our MSDN license allowed us to install the latest and greatest and they also gave us a copy for Mac users. The company also invested heavily in upgrading developers desktops. 4. People working at this company put in a lot of hard work and time and not to mention are generally very intelligent. 5. There was a lot of vision but it came from the ranks and not from leadership. 6. People I worked with were very helpful and willing to share information. 7. work life balance was shaky. There were months of working weekends and months of going home early. It evened out throughout the year.

Cons

1. Processes painstakingly put in place by the former leadership were thrown out the minute those leaders left the company and with it went the quality of the products. Testing was given a priority but was later sacrificed to meat "deadlines" which were arbitrary to begin with. 2. If ever a company had an inept IT department , this place had to be it. Getting anything installed or set up took months. It would have taken an Engineer hours at most to do this. Because of this features went untested for months and were later shelved because IT took forever giving permission or setting up environments. The bureaucracy was killing the company. 3. HR was another department that was a blackhole. Just nothing but inconsistent policies, lies and laziness. 4. There was no investment in their employees and infrastructure after the IPO. Which was baffling because before the IPO if you needed a new shiny toy to get your work done, you got your new shiny toy. Instead we saw a complete reluctance to even invest in basic maintenance for some of the offices they own. Carpets were filthy and there were no space to place employees and absolutely no will on part of leadership ( if you can even call them that) to get a bigger office. 5. The attitude of treating quieter men and women in general like second class citizens as another reviewer mentioned had caused immense damage to launching new products because you didn't have the best candidates on your team but the most aggressive.

Pros

Inovalon is full of smart people who really care about what they do. Inovalon is also full of opportunity to grow and be successful if you are comfortable in a fast paced, ever changing environment.

Cons

Continous change and pace can be exhausting and those seeking a slower pace may not enjoy working within this type of environment.
