Pros

The work was easy. It provided variety in location. I enjoyed the work and the pay was good.

Cons

Was reassured at hire that although the position was per diem that plenty of hours would be available. Upon resignation I had not worked in nearly two months. I was told that this type of lull in work was unusual. The communication with payroll and IT were poor. I had computer problems and it required me to return my laptop. It took 3 months for them to retrieve the data and me to be paid for the time connected to the data retrieved. Training was brief, thorough but too brief. My equipment was delayed arriving so I was unable to practice using in during class and ask any related questions. My first day I had to call clinical support for assistance and they assumed I should have know the answer to the question already.

Pros

Ability to work at home. You do not have anoyone watching over you nor do you have to worry about going to a physical place for a meeting. Everything is done via a phone on conference call.

Cons

No Benefits!!! Also there is NO promise of work. After either the contracts are over or they run out you can be out of work for a minimum of a week and some instances three weeks. If your contract work is finished they will move you to another position such as coding and make you go through the training process again and you must pass with a minimum of 94% if not, then you are terminated. You must maintain a accuracy rate of 95% or you will also be terminated Also, was informed by a precepter that the quick reference manual HAS the wrong codes so therefore the chances of you being terminated is high.

Pros

Not very many, pay is good when you work, you don't work steady with months of no work, as a result you make less money over all after you pay the expense of high speed Internet than if you worked locally as a nurse.

Cons

Months of no work, no feedback on performance, company tells its reviewers one thing about what they should be doing (find all of the chronic diagnosis in the chart that are justified) and then over-reviews any that are found. The real hidden business plan is to knock out the chronic diseases the doctors sumo for which they are paid an extra fee called a capitation. If the reviewer finds the extra diagnosis or doesn't knock out enough capitations they won't meet the secret 95% "error rate".
