Pros

- Some big name clients That’s really it.

Cons

- Wide array in talent means competent individuals are left pulling lots of dead weight - Shuffling around constantly on projects - No transparency around promotions and mishandled layoffs - Arrogant middle management and directors with lack of resume experience to back it up - Contractors treated like slaves - HR says what they want to keep people running on the hamster wheel, with no follow through on promotions or integrity

We appreciate this honest feedback, and understand that there are several areas that you would recommend Instrument focus and improve. It is important to us that expectations are clear and consistent across the company, including fair expectations of Independent Contractors. We appreciate you notating that there is a wide array of expectations of individuals based on their abilities and skill sets - we are committed to continued focus on this internally.

Great brands, good work-life balance but low equity & diversity

Pros

- Overall, kind, talented, and highly motivated people who love what they do and are eager to contribute - Healthy work-life balance (at least on my team) - Great brands and interesting work to have on your resume - Flat, collaborative teams

Cons

- Inequity in raises and promotions across the company (the reason I left), you have no understanding of why some people get promoted and others don't - Performative diversity - They are trying to improve and HR is working hard but the current leaders are mostly white and from Portland and suffer from groupthink and bias. They say they care but actions speak louder than words and I don't see any meaningful change to address discrimination or uplift minority voices. - Lack of transparency and avoidance of talking about hard issues - related to the point above but in general leaders deal with conflict by ignoring it instead of addressing it. They are more concerned with people-pleasing than doing the right thing. - Below market pay (in the name of getting to work on big brand projects)

Pros

Good benefits, the on-boarding process was extensive and positive, nice people, great amenities on site, creative work environment.

Cons

I didn't stay at Instrument because the agency life was not for me. I prefer to work on a product. I couldn't deal with the chaos and not having control of the direction of the projects I was working on.
