Pros

You get paid, and the location is nice.

Cons

people in Management and in Executive roles can not manage. There is a lot of performative solidarity and pretending to be woke going on. There is a hazing and bully culture. There is a lack of accountability for bad management and they are allowed to run rampant in the organization often thriving in their dysfunction. I would say skip this place if you can and work somewhere else.

Pros

You will meet and have the opportunity to work with a lot of talented creatives, you'll mostly like get poached by Apple, Nike, or Google. You get to work on high profile tech projects, lots of blue chip companies. You can coast easily, work is not very difficult or challenging, you can autopilot on certain teams. Thumbs up on 6 month business outlook, because they make a lot of money - and you will have job security.

Cons

Leadership is constantly restructuring teams, so be prepared to move around a lot. Lot’s of folks have recently left due to a salary discrepancy, (most folks that are leaving have been there for years and are getting paid less than the new hires in the same role.) Weird concentration of hires are coming from NYC. Majority of the studio is composed of senior levels folks. Junior folks are actually seniors labeled as juniors. They like to stick to their winning formula, very seldom do anything frontier pushing or out of their typical work or comfort zone. Feels like you’re in high school, lots of cliques and gossip.

Pros

Top-tier clients that look great on a resume. Plenty of talented people. Recent addition of Summer Fridays and some attempts at remote perks like guided massage. Making clear attempts at fostering inclusivity.

Cons

Shift to working remote has been very demanding and lots of people have voiced feeling overworked due to unclear expectations. Instrument only recently begun to introduce best practices for employees. The culture is largely superficial and leaves much to be desired. Blatant favoritism and ongoing popularity contest across the company. Some teams are clearly more desirable to work on. Design runs the show and receives the bulk of the support. Strategy is scattered, lacks clear POV on anything, and learning opportunities are close to nil besides the work itself.

Thank you for this feedback, and your time to document it for us to reflect on. We understand the feeling of remote work shifting needs, expectations, and the company feeling behind in introducing new best practices in response to remote work. We appreciate you acknowledging that we are instilling those best practices and we hope they are impactful for employees as they are embraced across the company. Thank you for the feedback on the disparity of experience between disciplines and teams, we are continuing to look at how experiences can feel more consistent across both of these areas and appreciate you highlighting it.
