Pros

Staff in the business or actuarial areas are very valued and it seems that overall management does their best to keep them happy.

Cons

Staff in many (most?) of the IT areas seem to be less valued and morale would appear to suffer greatly as a result.

Pros

Predictable and regular hours, easy work, pretty laid back coworkers, good benefits, easy to take vacation time, decent (but not great) salary

Cons

Can be boring, has a non-profit feel to it, some coworkers are lazy, alot of management are lazy, the brighter new hires are gone within a year, even if there is absolutely nothing to do you still have to be there-- it can feel like prison

Pros

The hours are flexible but in most areas you need to work 40 hours a week not including lunch. There are numerous education opportunities available to employees if you are willing to put in the time and effort. The atmosphere tends to be relaxed and the work attire is business casual. ISO is a good place to start if you want to learn about insurance.

Cons

Depending on who is in a management position, some areas tend to have higher turnover than others but that happens in any company. Salaries and bonuses are influenced more by the budget of the department rather than the performance of individual workers which tends to disillusion some people if there are no opportunities for career advancement.
