When I was hired, I was promised 4 weeks of training at a facility. I have asked my boss at least 8-10 times since then (over the phone and in person) for that training. Each time, he has given me an excuse of some kind or told me that I needed to "be patient". Technically, I still haven't received the necessary professional training for my job. I have learned everything I know, even scissor sharpening, from watching others on the trucks. I was also hired specifically to work in a major city, but ended up scheduled in other places throughout the state. When I was hired, I'd relocated, and I ended up driving across a good part of the state until I refused to do so. This job does require you to drive much more than is claimed (it is claimed a half hour both ways, to and from the location). Also: you will receive the same base starting pay regardless of where you live. If you are living in a major city, this will not be an affordable job for you. I am exceedingly frugal with money and I never go out and spend anything unnecessarily. I cannot make this job work for me and my savings is almost gone now after 1 year because I am having to take my 5 year old car to the shop to get it repaired.
