Pros

-Work on a truly impactful mission for drug treatment and social rehabilitation. -Good co-workers -Steady workflow (not too many surprises)

Cons

-Salary is typical for an NGO but judging on their size, one would think you'd receive more -Management is at many times far removed from clinical and caseworker needs and thus policies are not the best and at times can run into conflict with mission -Not much chance for upward mobility (the position you are hired in, is the one you are gonna stay in.

Pros

Professional employees paid fairly. Wide range of opportunities within the company. Many dedicated, compassionate co-workers. Opportunities for advancement. Licensure fees reimbursed. Clinical supervision is often.

Cons

There is a systemic disconnect between upper management and front-line workers (high turnover is one of the results); mandates and changes are handed-down without input from the ones who must implement these. Non-professional hourly employees underpaid - low retention, low motivation. Clients complain about lack of professionalism by much of the medical staff ; this unfortunately is supported by personal encounters with aggressive, confrontational and otherwise rude medical staff members (Secaucus); we work with some of the most vulnerable patients and they need and deserve better care than what is provided by medical. Inappropriate admissions at times. Understaffed in a number of departments and slow to hire. New policies and employee work requirements issued regularly - leading to overwork and clients suffering lack of service. Training is HR in nature and not clinical.
