Pros

TS sponsorship and firearms training

Cons

To give you a. Idea of the culture …let me share with you the typical tone and delivery of their communication. “ ALCON, The immediate permanent suspension of UPSP parking privileges extends to all DOS parking garage facilities in the NCR, not just HST. The only exceptions will be parking the parking lots at NAFTC and SA-26, but again, all UPSP parking privileges at parking garage facilities (SA-1, SA-9, SA-14, SA-17, SA-20 etc.) have been permanently suspended at this time. Any questions pertaining to this matter may be directed to your immediate supervisor for resolution.” **** please note that our immediate supervisors are not capable of resolving any questions because they are intentionally kept in the dark as well. **** payroll is routinely screwed up and it is not uncommon for officers to be underpaid **** latest disciplinary correspondence to staff threatened suspension for any lates or call off’s. **** call offs are a problem because Inter-Con no longer processes schedule changes and every night time officer is now required to work every weekend **** lates are a problem because officers are left to their own means to find parking in the city for the State Department contract. We are expected to take bullets for the employees but we are not permitted to share a parking garage with them ****the contract now requires an annual physical training requirement based on the army standard however unlike the army we are not given any opportunities to “do PT” to build and maintain ourselves to meet these physical training requirements. The PT is more stringent then many of the local law enforcement agencies such as Metro Transit and Pentagon Police. ***** Pay for new officers recently was decreased by $8 and hour leaving hourly payment at $31 hr which is less competitive then the majority of the local security agencies which require a Top Secret clearance. My recommendation is to stay away

Pros

Good pay for an easy job. It’s great if you’re not social or if you don’t like to be around friends/family for the holidays. Or if you like to work weekends.

Cons

Bad management… super easy to get fired… you’re just a body to fill a spot for where they need you… the schedule is terrible sometimes you have to fight with the operations to get more hours cause they scheduled you low hours. New officers don’t make the full pay until a year of working at the company. You don’t have consistent time off. You could work Monday Tuesday, have off Wednesday work Thursday Friday Saturday Sunday it’s never the same. They constantly mess up your paychecks to include the times you didn’t get a meal break but they still take it out of your check and they mess up the bonus pay per the wrong amount. Constantly changing policy’s and parking standards. The company was great when overnight shift worked 7 days and had the next 7 days off, you would only work half the year. Now I work every weekend.
