Pros

mostly great coworkers, lovely clients, valuable work

Cons

TERRIBLE BAD NO GOOD MANAGEMENT. Poor pay but expected with a non profit but the deputy director needs to be fired ASAP to the point of ethics and compliance violations. I no longer work at IRC or in resettlement for a reason and the reason is the people in charge in the Richmond office.

Pros

Deputy director hold "listening sessions" for the employees where he doesn't allow anyone interrupt him and talks for hours.

Cons

Constant exposure to vicarious trauma, no protection for employees experiencing harassment from customers, unqualified HR personnel.

Pros

Excellent commitment to work life balance. Excellent benefits and paid sick/vacation.

Cons

Staff in resettlement fields tend to burn out quickly due to high workload demand and very little pay. Pay in Seattle at the IRC is still below Geographical pay scale for many, especially those who have been with the IRC for a while.
