Pros

Local offices have wonderful, passionate staff, many of whom were former beneficiaries One of the fastest responders to humanitarian crises displacing populations, highly specialized in our work One of the best, most innovation in refugee resettlement work domestically THe ability to work domestically on an international development issue with an organization that also provides aid internationally

Cons

HQ structure is way risk averse, doesn't trust local affiliate staff, high turnover in local EDs. Business processes are slow, paper heavy, systems aren't integrated, therefore communication suffers and local staff have a very disconnected view of the HQ vision and structure

Pros

In a regional office, the tangible benefits you can provide directly to clients is motivating and extremely satisfying. You literally have the opportunity to change lives for the better and the environment attracts a dynamic, dedicated and close-knit staff.

Cons

The lack of resources and sustainable funding is extremely difficult to manage for staff at all levels: front-line staff, managers and executive leadership.

Pros

Incredibly brilliant, knowledgeable, caring and committed program staff, who genuinely love their work and have deeply relevant experience in the field.

Cons

- Leadership cares more about image and fundraising than about the quality of the work happening in the field - huge disconnect between stated mission and actual implementation, because of leaders' lack of integrity. - Narcissism reigns due to nearly obsessive attention to hierarchy. - No demonstrated commitment to staff development. - Beneficiaries are trooped out for galas or referenced in funder meetings, but the organization has become too sprawling and disorganized to foster any real sense of connection. It's incredibly sad.
