Pros

Contributing to an organization that does amazing work both overseas and domestically; co-workers are intelligent and committed individuals who are also a pleasure to be around.

Cons

Junior staff sometimes feel undervalued; difficult to be promoted above admin positions unless you have a master's degree and/or field experience.

Pros

Strength of teams in the field, really trying their best to serve beneficiaries effectively and with dignity, some more cutting edge programming than other NGOs out there.

Cons

High staff turnover in HQ and in the field, burnout, salaries not enough to live on in NYC if you are married with kids. Difficult to advance in international programs as a non-singleton.

Pros

The cause is great and that is as much as I can say for pros

Cons

Most people not in the field are unhappy and overworked. You never get close to the cause at all if you don't work in the programs directly.
