Pros

They want you to move around and learn the whole business and keep you from getting bored with your job. This will help getting you promoted in many areas. Beautiful building to work in. Offices are in the middle. Everyone has a great view of the outside. Cheap premiums for the health benefits.

Cons

Great work concepts, but they don't implement them. Deadlines are more like reminders when to start. Poor communication between departments.

Pros

Navistar is an industry leading truck and engine manufacturer, the business environment is fast-paced and ever changing. There are many exceptionally talented engineers, with whom it is a pleasure and education to work. Travel is often available. Many opportunities are present at the various operating sites.

Cons

The major engineering sites are unionized, and all the bad paradigms are present. The management - union relationship is by definition antagonistic, so there is a lot of petty bickering about who can do what work, overtime, profit sharing, etc. The result is a divided engineering group, with each function in its silo, not communicating with any others. The engineering group is inflexible, slow, and misguided.
