      Intuit - not a GPTW for everyone

      Pros

      The workforce is talented and engaging - a lot of talented and geniune people that are creative and energizing to work with. Product portfolio is respectful and delivers in the sweet spot of consumer and (very) small business needs for financial management.

      Cons

      Intuit is in many ways like a cult - very specific language, all about framing questions/hypothesis and a crack-like addition to powerpoint perfection. It's tough for people to advance and the existing management is oblivious to competitive or industry advancements because they are so focused internally. Mediocrity at the top is rewarded, while innovation in the front lines neglected.

      Pros

      The company has really smart people. Its core products are leading offerings in their respective categories with great market share.

      Cons

      The company is going thru lots of changes. While change is necessary, they need to be thought out well, which does not seem to be the case.

      Pros

      Good free beer sometimes, flexible hours, easy to work from home, low level of accountability even at the senior management level. This place is great if you just want to coast along.

      Cons

      Nobody comes to work. Sometimes I wonder what "work at home" actually means. There is no energy here--everyone is either on maternity leave or has something more important than work to do.
