Stay away from Sales

Pros

The people who work there and the benefits are the best things about this company

Cons

I don't even know where to begin. If you are anywhere but the sales department then your life is gravy. They treat sales like cattle at a slaughter farm. They choose their favorites and leave everyone else behind. They won't go to battle for you. One manager in particular has been protecting his "teacher's pets" and helping them get promoted even though one was caught red-handed cheating. What did the manager do when it was brought to his attention? He fired 5 other people just to keep his little buddy employed. The metrics this company asks you to produce is absurd. Work life balance does not exist in sales. The managers are a fraternity and they could care less about their employees. The pay does not equate the amount of work they ask from you. All they care about is your call numbers. The amount of money you bring it means nothing unless you made 100 calls while doing so, per day. They have no idea how to compensate the outbound sales team. The comp plan changes week to week. They have no idea what they are doing. You can be the most efficient worker on the sales floor but if the manager doesn't like you then you can kiss any hope of development goodbye. Its a popularity contest and the managers are the judge. My advice is to stay away from sales at this company at all costs, especially if you are early in your career.

Pros

i have been here for over 9yrs now and totally see the change in management style. few yrs back intuit was still a good place to work at. good company culture. nice people. great managers who cared about your growth. cant think of any pros lately.

Cons

recently the company is moving towards a more quality can be owned by the team thinking. which seems right. but the execution of this goal is poor. They announced the plan to transition quality engineers to dev role in jan 2017. there was no action on that plan until recently when some quality engrs were let go. this was not a transition at all. To add to this "some" quality engrs were handpicked by the dev managers to move as developers. And the people who were let go are given a chance to interview for developer role. why the discrimination? evryone should be interviewed and given a fair chance to prove their skills. When people asked questions about this leadership and HR lied with "everyone had to go through interviews". There was no proof of this revealed. also many managers favor certain people from their team. work is distributed on the basis of this. have seen many instances of gender discrimination as well where female co workers were sidelined and male co workers were given better opportunities.

Pros

Great pay, benefits. You'll work on challenging problems. Very customer focused. Clear vision and direction for existing and new products.

Cons

Some managers are unethical. A few bad apples have ruined the experience. Upper management seems unaware of the mediocre, even substandard quality of some of the mid and lower level management.
