Pros

- Work/life balance is okay if you can handle the constant fear of losing your job.

Cons

- Completely clueless middle-management, the worst I've seen. Ever since the stock price tanked and they brought in some scary C-suite sharks, the managers are running scared and trying to protect themselves to the detriment of everything else. - If you are rank-and-file, you can expect layoffs to be a constant fear in the back of your mind. If you are management, you have nothing to worry about, the entire company apparatus is set up to insulate you from accountability. - The company has no formal performance management, or even performance tracking. They randomly do leveling assessments that are retroactive and punitive. You will find out in Q3 of 2021 that your performance was "just okay" in Q1 2020. - There is no training, you are just expected to know things. - Extremely contractor-heavy development teams. The contractors are generally pretty good, but that says more about the agency that employs them than Invitae. This is a rare company where the contractors actually pity the full-time employees. - The company's outlook is abysmal. They acquired a bunch of companies during the peak of the market valuations, which every employee thought was crazy, they're barely able to keep their own product together, much less integrate other companies' products. Listen to the earnings calls! They are a total bloodbath!

Pros

Benefits, PTO, Good mission statement

Cons

It was clear when I began working here that women were commonly labeled negative and “not team players” yet male counterparts were never condemned for voicing opinions or providing feedback. Field Management is largely incompetent; serving as mostly email pushers. Not one person on my team was developed or promoted, and requests to move up or into different positions were ignored. Racist slurs and insensitive comments were common as well as clear cut discrimination against women. Other departments on our all hands calls often asked why women were paid less than male counterparts. Several women were terminated for speaking up or giving solicited feedback; one for going over her managers head to ensure proper maternity leave when management wouldn’t commit to a maternity policy. The East is run completely different than the West; with a clear message on the East to fear upper management and shut your mouth or else you will face retaliation. HR is just as complicit in this treatment and sides with management. Was verbatim told by management “we treat everyone different here” which was clear in their favoritism towards males. Clear lack or diversity in the company largely run by white males. I left on my own accord for all these reasons, leaving behind a successful territory with strong relationships and lucrative bonuses.

Pros

- Three years ago Invitae was a great company with a promising future. Over the last year or two this quickly started to change. - Initially very transparent and great employees - Great benefits and good pay

Cons

- There is little room for promotion or to move around once you have been hired even if you fight for this - Very sporadic and unorganized - Things are constantly changing and not always for the better. Once a new way or method is learned, they change it up again. -Management is not transparent and does not care about individual employees
