Pros

The mission is worthwhile. Too bad they can't control costs to save their lives and will run out of money before they can execute.

Cons

Even with multiple RIFs, this People team keeps targeting talented, dedicated people for layoff, and retaining their own incompetent, non-productive favorites on staff. New CEO Ken K can give orders but is not a leader. Stock is in the toilet, and they have no bonus program, having relied on the previously decent stock price to issue RSUs instead. they are unable to control costs at even a basic level. This company will be delisted and bankrupt before we know it. People/HR/Talent Operations team, or whatever flavor of the month they are calling themselves, not only has no idea what they are doing, but also promotes and fosters a dysfunctional and highly political culture at this company. Run!

Pros

For the last many years it has been very good environment for engineers of many levels of experience for growth. Great mission, lots of great people, fair benefits, great culture on the paper.

Cons

Layoffs followed by demotivating speeches by C-suite a bad tasting in all of the mouths. Stock was having $60/share in 2020 December, now scraping around $10/share. Recent CTO hire with repugnant personality goes against everything they claim the culture provides. Just another corporation at this point trying to make a buck.

Pros

Good people to work with that really believe in the mission.

Cons

Only people that really believe in the mission are left. Everyone else left for better pay elsewhere. Senior leadership seems checked out or uncommunicative and can't provide any clear guidance aside from, "We're still two weeks from sorting it out and we'll get back to you with an answer then". It's been two weeks for the last 8 months. Success depends on how well your manager can shield (and retain) their employees and navigate around the damage caused by leadership. Our total attrition company wide is 25% which is 'industry norm' but there are highly skilled and critical positions where people are leaving over comp with attrition over 70% in the last year and there's no ability to backfill. Increasing number of positions where there's no one even available to train a backfill because the position quit and the lead for that position quit leaving ghost systems that literally no one in the company understands.
