Pros

Smart, friendly, non judgmental employees Dog friendly Great benefits Great buildings to work in

Cons

Management generally sees structure as a bad thing, but its clear in some cases they have not done their homework to understand the consequences this is causing. Feedback is encouraged but not always welcomed by upper management and can easily cause one to regret their actions. Upper management boasts how they are open to change, but that is not always the case and can sometimes become uncomfortably defensive. Assumptions (or perhaps they aren't fully listening ) are sometimes made which causes even more problems and frustration.

Pros

At this point nothing. Maybe the snacks you can steal from the break room.

Cons

Leadership truly has done an impeccable job of squandering what they had with the company. Massive mergers with absolutely no plan for integration, then lay offs which affect huge swathes of the acquired companies, then they’re just spinning their wheels. You have teams/people holding the keys to processes they have no business being in charge of and actively hampering progress. Teams actively saying they won’t use systems developed to aid them because they fear for losing their jobs. And how can you blame them? Round after round of layoffs without any sort of communication surrounding them, combined with literally no communication from leadership (biweekly all hands meetings have become a thing of the pst because they were just the CEO failing to field the hard questions from his employees and getting upset) lead to every employee worrying they could lose their job. Attrition in engineering is insane. And like everything else leadership passes it off as a non issue and pretends we are in line with the industry. We’re not. They aren’t filling any of these departures. There are systems that no one knows how to use because the one guy who built it left and they couldn’t backfill in time for him to train. Then the other systems it’s hard to make progress in with more and more people leaving. And if you could put in the work why would you? You’re probably getting paid under market rate, and unless you’re really lucky probably less than someone with the exact same position and resume. Leadership has made promises about pay equity and consistently pushed back promises. Some people are underpaid compared to their peers by more than 30%. They were told this process was completed months ago, with nothing to show for it. This is thousands of dollars that people were told they deserve and just haven’t been given. It got to the point where some engineers sent a letter of grievances to leadership and do you know what their response was? “Wait another paycheck or two and we’ll tell you our plan”. Which means it’ll take longer. At this point I can only think they’re as checked out as their employees, because they’re doing literally nothing to attempt to right the shop that is half under already

Pros

- many smart, dedicated and creative individuals that work here - highly collaborative environment - flexible work schedule - many people work from home - dog friendly office - lots of snacks and the weekly sushi lunches! - salary and compensation is competitive - lots of opportunities to get involved in new projects

Cons

- burning cash fast - high turnover: quick to hire and acquire, then quick to layoff long term or solid employees - lack of career development opportunities - lack of documentation and disconnect in lingo between teams - lack of training/onboarding for some teams, and not forgiving of mistakes despite lack of training - community still acts like a small startup but is actually past that point, which contributes to issues surrounding training/onboarding and good documentation on internal processes - insistent on using a passive aggressive performance evaluation tool. does not seem to have a objective, quantitative approach to evaluating employee output/contribution. - "Unlimited PTO" policy oddly seems to result in pressure to work more hours and take less vacation because a lot of people don't. "Why isn't this done yet?" is a common question from upper management who are often unaware of other competing priorities or the cadence of development cycles.
