The college is ran like a business - you are expected to keep your office door open all of the time, or, heaven forbid, a closed door means you do not care about Ivy Tech. They expect you to be "on duty" on evenings as well as weekends and require you to obtain their permission to work other part-time jobs. You are under their total control once you work for them. They say their ethics are high, yet the way they treat employees makes you wonder if they know what ethics are. The place is top-heavy in management and full of office politics. If you do not say "hello" to certain people in a certain way you will get reprimanded by your supervisor. The insurance offerings are now full of high-deductible and co-pays. The finances are shaky, as enrollments continue to decline. The place is obsessed with data - sometimes if students complain they will tell you to pass the student even if the student has a failing grade.
