Pros
The Deans are very loyal and trustworthy. They work within their parameters to help you succeed. Faculty truly want to help students succeed. Overall, it is a great place for students to get an affordable education that does transfer to a lot of schools if they choose to further their 2-year degree.
Cons
There is not a whole lot of room for growth and regardless of expertise that is brought to the table, the words "We can't do that." come up a lot. The institution in the region where I am is in the red a lot and no budget for our department. I pay a lot out of my own pocket for faculty development and they do not reimburse you for furthering your education claiming that it is not necessary for your job. They expect you to drive 6 hours in one day for professional development that is required without overnight accommodations. They pile on more and more responsibilities each year and there has only been 1 raise across the board in the last 6 years. I can get an increase of $20K, just going across state lines for the same job.
