Pros

I got to learn how to be a product manager like writing user stories, roadmapping, and collaborating with Engineering and Design. The work life balance was good (9-5) and it was a slow paced environment, making it a good place to learn.

Cons

It’s got low upward mobility. You have to put in your time to get promoted even if you’re operating at a higher level. Also because of the slower pace, it was hard to get stuff done. Also pretty bureaucratic because it was run like a typical bank.

Pros

JPM is a vast institution which provides for many development/exposure opportunities depending on your LOB

Cons

Compensation will be substantially below market. It is common wisdom to leave and come back if you want any meaningful increase Akin to working at the Post Office at times. Quite bureaucratic and many levels of management. It can be difficult to advance or stretch given how roles are designed to be limited in scope (especially at the lower level)
