Pros

I love the people. I have worked for many tech companies, and this is clearly the nicest bunch I've ever worked with. When I started, it seemed to be too good to be true. I really enjoy the perspective that the CEO brings - his heart is definitely in the right place. In general, people are quite competent and hardworking. And it feels like we are all working together as a team, rather than the competitive cooperation you see at other startups. Teams will often lend resources to other teams for high-priority projects, or pitch in to hit a tight deadline. And people have a very high level of empathy for each other, as well as for our customers and their pain points. I've worked for a lot of tech companies from tiny startups all the way to public companies, and this is probably my favorite place to work.

Cons

The expectations are super high with regards to growth. We have grown super quickly over the past few years, both in terms of headcount and revenue. And the expectations seem to be the same going forward despite the cooldown in the funding markets and a slowdown in hiring.

Pros

- The culture. This is what so many companies say, but Jane is the only place I've seen it be genuinely exemplified. The folks here are the most caring, empathetic people you'll ever meet. Many of them have become my genuinely good friends. - "Take what you need" PTO. Aka unlimited time off. Jane genuinely cares about your mental health and you as a person. - Lots of growth. It's so fun to help shape my own career as well as the direction of the engineering organization as this start up matures. I've enjoyed lots of jobs in the past, but there's usually a "honeymoon phase" where after 6 months or so, I see the downsides of the job and lose that excited-to-get-out-of-bed feeling. I think the strongest thing I can say about Jane is that I've been here over a year, and the honeymoon phase hasn't ended. I still wake up every day grateful for this job and excited to come to work.

Cons

Honestly, I can't think of any. If you prefer large companies over start ups, you may not love it as much as I do.

Pros

The people are really the star of the show at Jane -- everyone is kind, empathetic, and willing to help you out even if it doesn't directly benefit them. From a DS side, it's definitely a nascent practice in the organization, which gives a lot of opportunity for high impact (although I doubt there are any low impact jobs at Jane). Work-life balance is awesome, even with the amount of projects there are to work on.

Cons

There are limited resources, so it often feels like productivity/growth is hampered by our low headcount. But that being said, the company is being very fiscally responsible, and I'd much rather have too much to do than too little (or worse, a layoff). Also, no 401k matching.
