Pros

- Lots of skill building opportunities - Pay Checks are on time - Great 401k matching Retirement Plan - Shift differnial pay - Scope of work is awesome

Cons

I can write a book about what is wrong with company, but for review purposes I will try to summarize my experience to keep it short. First off, this company needs to unionize and be reformed. The workers need Somone with a backbone that can negotiate for the bottom working guy. Management is by far the biggest negative impact at Janicki Industries. They are sharks. The upper tier management (plant managers and operations managers) are horrible leaders to say the least. During my four years of employment, I got a good feel for it and found management to be lacking in proper leadership qualities and experience. Pay scale, try asking for it, they don’t have one. Managers often are aware of who’s a good employee there, but rarely if not ever go to bat for you to get raise for your hard work. Consider yourself lucky if you even get a review let alone a raise. I saw 2 reviews out of my 4 years of employment and I had to beg management just for those two given. Also, performance raises, you won’t get one, and if you do, even if it’s a positive review don’t expect a pay increase. Some of the best co-workers I’ve ever worked with haven’t seen raises in over 5 years and some even over 10. Yet their “good enough” to keep employed and train their new hires. Pay wise your manager makes easily double your wage and beyond. (I’ve ran into old cell managers to confirm this). Bonuses are always a great token of generosity each year I will agree. But this company falls short of just that too. Your manager will receive dollars to your pennies in that category. Even if your companies success relies on everyone working together as a team. The HR department lacks as well with any complaints or serious concerns. Eventually, your issue/concern will make its way back to your manager resulting in your head on the chopping block for layoffs or firing. In summary, don’t expect help from HR department, it’s a joke.

Pros

Decent pay for starting out. If you've got a good attitude, you'll get some good training. Aerospace industry experience. Good benefits.

Cons

I've been here several months now, and have been constantly frustrated. There is company-wide attitude problem. I've been instructed often to slow down because they don't have anything to do after this or that task. Most people catch on to how to look busy while getting nothing significant done. Bosses seem to enjoy walking around catching people doing something wrong. A new hire is only trained if an experienced employee is forced to train them. There seems to be a widespread idea that training someone means you'll lose your job to them. The culture seems poisonous, and very few stick it out a long time. I've managed to get certified in things I already knew how to do (forklift, manlift, etc), but little opportunity on the horizon.

Pros

-Every day tends to be different. -You can learn a variety of different skills, albeit, skills that would be difficult to transfer to other companies well. -President and CEO seem like genuinely decent people. -There is a decent amount of trust in the employees, which gives freedom to use what resources you need in order to complete the task. -JI pushes the envelope in composite tooling manufacturing, creating some of the processes and having patents on many procedures thereby. -Companies get contracts based on the condition that they use our services. We are in demand, and that is a good thing for the companies long term future.

Cons

-Raises? There does not seem to be a structure in place the provide regular raises. -The glass ceilings are hard here. Those with engineering schooling can do well at JI, but those without find it difficult to leave the production floor. -Tying those two together, the compensation is not family wages unless you have an engineering degree and are in a production management or manufacturing engineering role. ***The executive's words don't reflect company actions. There is much talk about JI supporting families and striving to be a family orientated company. Caution. It is not rare to spend months on 10 hour days, sometimes even 12 hours. In addition, don't expect to have any sort of predictability with your schedule, or the ability to plan your life beyond work. Working Saturdays on top of a 50+ hour week is common, and they often occur for most of the summer, often with only a day or two notice. Your family may be important, but don't let them interfere with work, as much is sacrificed for the sake of production and ship dates. Most of this is driven by the hiring of toxic upper managers, and poor production planning and resource control.
