Pros

You will work on very cool projects. You will gain very valuable experience in a wide range of manufacturing techniques using cutting edge materials being either industry standard or even proprietary. Janicki Industries is not widely known but will surprise you on what a small privately owned industrial manufacturer based in a tiny town is up to.

Cons

They do not deliver on the promised yearly reviews. If you have a manager that seems interested in actually finding time to give said reviews, they will not be able to find the time . The schedule for projects from start to finish is so competitive in industry that the resulting work load/pace prevents any time for reviews. Managers arent supported enough to deliver reviews. There seems to be a racial bias on pay levels. Unfortunately a lot of the talented and hard working Hispanic employees see lower wages than average even after 10+ years at the company. I only know this because I and other employees discussed our personal wages. I found that I was making around seven dollars an hour more than said Hispanic employees with 10+ years of commitment. There seems to be no structure to wages. If you know what youre doing, you may get a decent wage to start, but if you dont know what youre worth, JI seems to have no problem with taking advantage of you resulting in insultingly low wages for some people and most of the people that I have met that have fallen for that policy are Hispanic. While a large majority of the employees at JI are Hispanic, there are only two that I know of that hold a position that involves running any of their many CNC machines and there are no Hispanics in management. Its painful when you notice that management is all Caucasian.

Pros

I was given lots of freedom and responsibility and was able to take my project in almost any direction I wanted. Mentorship was readily available and my manager was very helpful. Resources to complete tasks were easy to find.

Cons

The mistreatment of skilled technicians. I met several skilled technicians who had been at the company for many years who had never been offered a raise and were grossly underpaid. I made more as an intern than they did 10 years into their career. I worked ridiculously hard (partially my own fault).

Pros

Good company to work for they put money towards the equipment and Technology. You are working with top of the line and producing cool things.

Cons

A lot of downtime where you required to be at work regardless of workload and if you choose not to be there in reflects poorly due to the fact they have to use so many working hours for each project therefore if a project ends early there will be a lot of a lot of hours that will need to be absorbed which means busy work. Personal relations tend to get in the way of professional relations you may be laid off or passed over just due to the fact one of the managers has a personal grudge against you regardless of your work and going above and beyond.
