Pros

This company offers competitive pay, and the benefits are decent—however, employees are expected to cover a significant portion of the cost themselves.

Cons

Jefferies has a reputation for overworking its staff across all levels. From administrative assistants to associates, the environment is consistently toxic across the board. Managing Directors often come across as dismissive and unapproachable, creating a high-pressure atmosphere with little regard for team well-being. I have witnessed degrading behavior from Managing directors to associates which have created an extremely uncomfortable and an unfortunate working environment even for those who are watching it happen. Long hours are the norm—13 to 14-hour days, plus weekends—and there’s an unspoken expectation to remain available outside of work hours for urgent messages. The culture is intense and, frankly, demoralizing. If you’re seeking work-life balance, this is not the place for you. Most employees are fearful of speaking out therefore many times poor behavior is left to continue on to new employees coming in.
