Pros

Jefferson Parish is a good, solid school system. My principal is very supportive of me and my students. Teachers at my school and others are dedicated and caring. My co-teachers are phenomonal. My students are respectful and eager to learn.

Cons

Administrators at Central Office are nearly impossible to get in touch with. Jefferson Parish is a public school system, so with that come state mandates, specific curriculum, testing, testing and more testing. It is difficult to get parental involvement into my classroom, and it may be worse at other schools. JPPSS has gone to full inclusion, which is being implemented in various ways in each school.

I love working with kids, the benefits are very good, and my student loan will be forgiven.

Cons

I do not always feel valued in my position and there is a lot of extra hours being put in for activities such as after school rehearsals, performing at sports games, fundraising, performances, and so much more.

Facilities are old and could be upgraded. The pay can also be better. Kids are very disrespectful.
