Pros

Remote work, and that's about it. The people I worked with were also fine.

Cons

It takes a very special kind of person to work here: the humiliating "grindset" dude bro who would rather pull you into another useless meeting than do anything productive on their salary. Middle management overfloweth, and they all love to pretend they have a job. If you're actually doing any work, you'll see this place for what it is: another toxic company that thrives on greasy faux-kindness, mismanagement, and poor working conditions—but with a pretty bow. Writers were treated like trash. We weren't listened to. Expectations were way too high without a paycheck to back it up. I'd rather a company be upfront that they don't care rather than pretend their people matter. If you're the kind of person who doesn't gag at every useless meeting, you'll love it here. If you can stomach dead-eyed middle managers and signs that read "dreams don't work unless you do," you'll love it here.

We’re sorry to hear about your experience. I believe you landed on the wrong company page. For clarity, Jerry does not employ content writers in New York and has not in the past. We also operate with a relatively flat organizational structure and limited middle management. As a fully remote company, working conditions are based on individual home environments.

Beware of lawyers running tech companies

Pros

Good people, mostly, although many are hamstrung due to poor leadership.

Cons

Where to start. Non-technical co-founder and former lawyer (big red flag) who has no business running a tech company, aggressive micromanagement, no innovation, no real strategy, constant pivoting, inflated valuation… just to name a few.

Not so great

Pros

Experience in writing and editing

Cons

They'll hook you with their internship and lead you on to believe you'll get a full-time position. The workload is ridiculous given the minimum wage you get paid. Communication between leaders and their teams is confusing or non-existent. Let's just say there's a reason why there's a high turnover rate.
