Low pay, refusal to promote to full time, terrible benefits for anyone who isn't it management, upper management is over paid, and shoves their work onto lower employees. Managers will cut hours and increase tasks, to receive a bonus.

After Jewel was bought our several times...the spirit of the associates and management went as well. The pressure you get from uper management was extremely stressful day to day. Fire drills because the prez or ceo was int town or coming was rediculously painful. I was a dependent manager for many years but it got to the point that enough was enough and I had to walk away for my own sanity. Working 20 + years and missing out on life, weekends, overnights, and holidays sucked to say the least. Then, when you have all the time off (5 weeks Vaca 3 pd) you are questioned about taking the time off. Oh, and ya best not take it around a holiday.... that's frowned apon. Walk into a store right now and look at the faces of the associates/management...it shows over worked, tired, stressed, frustration, unappreciated, etc. I have yet to see a smiling face from ear to ear. Not even the baggers are smiling. With that all having said, would you want to work in that type of environment if you had a choice??
