Pros

For the most part, your coworkers are very fun to work with. I've worked at three separate locations and the store definitely seems to attract fun employees. They are also pretty flexible with your hours. Also, it's an easy job. I mean, you're making a sandwich.

Cons

Jimmy John's is a company that is cares 100% about making a profit and saving a buck and couldn't care less about their employees. I know it's a corporation, but they take it to the extreme. I've worked for other minimum wage food service jobs before and this is by far the worst. They start off by giving employees a huge number of hours so it becomes their only job and source of income, and then they cut your hours in half unexpectedly. The only reason that flexibility is there is because they like to over staff. For what should be an easy job, the company likes to get completely out of control about things. They act like this is complete rock science. It's not. It's something we have all been doing since about five. Even if you are a sandwich maker, there is a huge pressure to become a delivery driver. It's not worth it. Considering the ticket that you take is normally valued under ten dollars, even if you get a standard tip it's only a dollar or two. You will beat your car to death in the process while only picking up pocket change on average. There are no benefits for working. You get a two dollar discount and to get anything free you have to work a seven or eight hour shift. Their time off policy is the worst I've ever seen. You have to get someone to cover your shift, even if you let management know weeks and months in advance if you need time off. They force employees to come into work when they are sick. So if you're a fan of Jimmy John's sandwiches, just know that they employee who made it could have the flu. For a place that says they want "rock stars" they are ridiculously strict and heavy handed with their management. JJ's also seems to attract the most stuck up and outrageously entitled customers on the planet. Prepare to be yelled at; a lot.

Pros

-working at jimmy johns forces you to look around at your coworkers and at your miserable life and realize how good you have it. -sometimes you can put a cookie on top of the oven and it will melt real nice and if you can get away with it you can ear it real quick while no one's looking -you will get 50 cents off your cold, worthless sandwich -sometimes The Killers plays on the jimmy radio

Cons

-everything. this company doesn't care about you. this company hates you. you will hate yourself if you work here. -the CEO likes to kill animals for fun and he is a garbage man. -the music makes me want to die, i know all of the songs and i loathe them each equally. -you will never make a living on your awful minimum wage paychecks -i'm a manager making 11 an hour and i still hate myself so there's that -if you are a driver in arizona you will literally make like 5/h lma o -there are no benefits and the company will fire you for accepting tips

Pros

*Most* franchise owners of JJ's have a very lucrative bonus program based upon managers hitting established monthly goals, and they pay upwards of 25% of store profit to the management team for hitting these goals. The company still seems to be growing like crazy, and it can be a very fun atmosphere to work in, with big potential rewards. The sky is the limit in the right situation.

Cons

One of JJ's mottos I've heard since day one is, "We work hard, and we play hard." Totally true. But don't take lightly the WORK HARD portion of that motto. It can be long, hard hours to do it right, and be as successful as you want to be financially. Not for the faint of heart. If you're someone who wants regularly schedule break times, etc...this probably isn't what you're looking for. JJ's also is maniacal about their systems. Everything from daily procedures to dress code, there isn't much room to implement your own creative ideas in the workplace here. But -- they've designed a great blueprint to easily follow, and if you can buy in to doing everything as they have it detailed, you can reach greater success much quicker. While I think many (including myself at times) would consider this attention to detail a "CON," it really helps accomplish what it is intended to -- create the same customer experience no matter what JJ you set foot in.
