Pros

Good benefits and nice salary.

Cons

The company has a history of purchasing companies like John Deere Wind, John Deere Water, and John Deere Credit and then selling them off (including employees) when they don't pan out. After announcing large expansion at John Deere Waterloo and accepting millions of dollars in tax credits the company turns around three months later and lays off 400 people at the same facility and hundreds more at others. Management has an active policy to hire people from India and is in the process of transistioning key knowledge to those teams in an attempt to save money.

Pros

The products we work on have meaning. Lots of good tools and engineering resources. Good people at the working level, most are always willing to help and want to do quality work. Tuition reimbursement.

Cons

Management is driving talent out. 2020 reorg eliminated multiple salary positions. Lots of "shuffling" around in the organization under, I'd classify things as unstable since 2020. What was left as a "Pension" is replaced with additional 401k contribution. Return to office 4x a week mandated early 2024. 2024 summer layoffs, many employees left wondering for months if they will be impacted. Still projected to be a top profit year, large bonuses expected... More and more production moving out of the USA. We are just numbers. Leadership is hiding behind smoke and mirrors, lack of any accountability.

Pros

Camaraderie, coworker relations , can’t say anything more positive.

Cons

Terrible management, horrible tech support because they contract most of their I.T. And service desk is horrendous. Corporate does not know how the facilities are run and put technologies and other things without asking the people who are working if that would work and without any previous testing in real circumstances not in a test facility. They want their contractors to do the same work as Deere employees for less pay and no benefits. Keep changing priorities and adding things that make no sense in practice. Favoritism from management with some employees. Management keeps asking for feedback we give it but it falls in deaf ears.they make so much money and can’t pay contractors fair pay and benefits. And the infrastructure is laughable for such a huge company. Security is a joke they change people every month, not a single armed guard. Entrances are keycard locked but rarely any security if it’s not the main entrance or Foundry entrance. Any disgruntled employee can come in one of those entrances and do whatever he/she wants.
