Pros

Great salary and benefits. Mid level people can be great despite terrible managers. Learned a lot because of survivor-like atmosphere.

Cons

No work life balance, lack of growth opportunities, no resources -- sink or swim. No one is accountable but want to micromanage and then point fingers if anything goes wrong. No training. Expect more layoffs if Management above GWS does not take an interest and fix the systemic problems in the operating model.

Pros

It's good work environment with lots opportunities for growth and decent training programs. There is a very hardcore safety culture at JCI and they take safety VERY seriously so they really do put the employees health and safety 1st .

Cons

JCI is a publicly owned company and thus falls victum to it's own bean counting. This is good for employees since it makes JCI reliant on it's own workers. It's business practices make working within the company convoluted and full of silo walls. All the bean counting and mimizing of sub-department budgets leads to bare minimum budgets which complicates the daily routine with minimul support and substantial over-head. All of this creates real job security for employees who have worked there a while and learn all the hoops to jump through. Anyone making a valid effort to do their job and do it well is appreciated and given their regular 3% raise per year. So even the cons can be pros, although there are a lot of head-shaking moments of disbelief.

Pros

If you're in need of money, the pay is good to start and you have access to ALL the overtime you could possibly want. The benefits are great, company stock usually does very well and there are a LOT of employee discount programs, including vehicles

Cons

The plant where I work is very unorganized as far as how well they manage the inventory for spare parts for machines, some of the simplest least expensive things can be out of stock when you need them, making your job unnecessarily harder, also the training program needs some work and there needs to be a program for tuition reimbursement for floor workers to advance their careers...strangely there is one for the people in the office (most of which have to already have some college to be IN the office) but the floor people are on their own in this area
