Pros

Samples/member store, not a lot of micro management, freedom, privately held, most people nice but not like it was, family owners are great when we get to see them

Cons

Corporate politics, drama, disconnect between owners and mid level employees. Gossiping is the worst. Never was this way a few years ago. Spend more time watching your back and upper level listening to the gossip more than the facts and backing the good people. We have lost a few in the last year or so. Afraid we will loose more. The culture is dead from what it was. Not family or caring about people anymore. Not sure if I will get to retire from global office or not as it's driving me away. Others feel the same yet are afraid to express truths anymore. It's all perception anymore. Kiss up and say what they want to hear. Keep your head low from the gossip groupies. Some in every department. Always looking at google for the latest.

Pros

I love that Johnsonville has such a warm culture, that truly reflects that of the small town it was named after. People smile and say hi to me all the time and I have genuinely amazing coworkers. I'm given opportunities to development myself personally and professionally and leadership is focused on giving these opportunities to absolutely anyone who is willing to take the initiative. Cross functional movement is encouraged, learning from mistakes is ok, and I don't need to dance around political red tape. Johnsonville also has a lot of programs that benefit members like tuition assistance, reimbursement for fitness activities (like a gym membership or class), and scholarships for members' kids!

Cons

Sheboygan is an hour away from Milwaukee and Green Bay, so some people have a long commute if they want to live in a downtown area. Sheboygan county is right on Lake Michigan though and there are nice surrounding communities.

Was a great company culture but changing

Pros

Strong brand, growing company. Midwestern values, very down to earth culture (but changing). Very fun environment with genuinely nice coworkers. Opportunities are there to learn a lot cross fuctionally with the team environment.

Cons

Culture was great but it's changing. Too many projects are allowed to happen at once and sr leadership does not make the tough decisions to help members prioritize and say no so they can have work life balance. Sometimes feels like everyone is running in circles. Family owned business - family causes a lot of noise and distraction. The company is trying to figure out how to become a large company while still keeping that small company feel and culture. This is a very difficult task so I appreciate the challenge at hand for leadership.
