Pros

Flexible- you can make your own schedule Decent pay for the area Usually able to get a shift on short notice. Parents always need care. Management is kind and accommodating overall.

Cons

No benefits provided even if full time You have to request to see feedback from families- it isn’t on the app or sent to you which I think it should be. They only provide you with 2 Jovie shirts which easily become worn if working full time and washing often, but they expect you to wear the shirt to every shift and even when asked they won’t provide more

Pros

(Jovie of Poway/San Diego) The scheduling is convenient as a student and allows you to have weekends off if one wants. Also, can meet some really cool families that can be reoccurring. Manager (Kaela) is also very sweet and present with the employees.

Cons

Unfortunately, there are many. I have been working for Jovie for about a year and it has gotten so mentally exhausting. Jovie does not pay well and then on top of that, they pay the same even if there are 3 kids compared to 1 and does not pay more for kids with special needs. The kids are usually not the problem but the parents can be very off-putting and weird. I have often times felt uncomfortable within my job around the parents. Also, Jovie puts you in positions to work with kids who are sick but then penalize you if you are sick and call out... it dosen't make much sense.

We appreciate the time you have devoted to Jovie. Our Back Up Care Program, which is very important to working parents, can indeed be a role that isn’t a long term fit for all caregivers. Wed welcome your return to our team working sitter cases or our respite care programs. - Laura Davis, Franchise Owner, Jovie of San Diego
