Pros

I worked as an on call nanny. Some of the pros of the position include: flexible scheduling and the opportunity to work with children. Also, on call nannies are generally paid higher than placement nannies.

Cons

Some of the cons include: not having steady work (As an on call nanny, your work may be heavy or sporadic, other times there is no work at all. There were pay periods where I received nothing), heavy driving distances with little pay (it was not uncommon to drive more than an 1/2 hour (sometimes an hour) to work for a family), and finally inconsistent pay rates (pay rates were different per family and often, the pay rate was not equivalent with the work). Overall, I think this position is great for a college student. I wouldn't however recommend this position for someone that is looking for steady income.

Pros

CNT is a great place to work! Nice pay, flexible hours and very friendly employees! The business has great values in work ethic and we work extremely hard to insure we hire the best tutors out there for our students. The owners/management genuinely care about their employees and want to see them succeed.

Cons

Families can cancel last minute on you which can be a little difficult to deal with

Pros

The "company" makes an attempt to find you nanny jobs when you aren't working.

Cons

They are not organized. The rep in my area had no idea what she was doing, I always had to talk to someone higher up in Minnesota, i'm in CA. When yu sign up with them you can only worl for them and only them, they have all kind of rules that are so unnecessary, such as, everything has to be ran through them, if they find out the family you nanny for asks you to nanny as a date night or some time out of your regular hours you can be fined if they dont approve. if you are referred to someone else by previous family and dont go through them you also can be fined. Their payroll system is always off and never on time. Also you can't nanny on the side because you also can be fined. They want you to themselves. Oh! When they do find you a job they profit from your pay and you only make $15/ hr full time, even if you were supposed to get paid more. It might be okay for some but not for me where i make $20/ hr or more without an agency!
