Pros

The family I worked for was great.

Cons

The owners of the franchise never assisted me in any way. They keep the books, you get paid, that's it. I was with the same family three years and never had problems, so the owners didn't have to do anything except rake in over 50% of the money they charged the parents. Although these owners made $20,000 gross per year off my work, I got no Christmas or end of year bonus. I got a $15 Walmart card. My husband was angry, since usually job brokers only make money off you for a limited time, then you make your full salary. The ingratitude for my sincere and effective efforts shown by that card was a real shock.

Pros

Can make your own schedule. Nothing else comes to mind.

Cons

They pocket most of the $$ from the families, the families think they’re paying you 40+$/hour and expect that much out of you when you’re getting 11-13. They actually meet with the families to decide how much to charge them based on how many kids they have, if there are any special needs, if there are any babies etc. The family thinks this is so they can pay the nanny fairly but the nanny gets paid the exact same amount regardless. They pocket the money the family has to pay if they cancel late even though the nanny is left with nothing. You can get raises of a few cents per hour. There are good nanny agencies in Seattle, only after leaving CNsT and joining another did I realize how bad and unethical their business is.

Pros

the kids you work with can be cute and sweet. office staff will be fake nice to you to get you in the door.

Cons

Communication with the office is exceptionally terrible. If you are mistreated by a client they will do nothing to help you. You are just a means to an end to them, they will not treat you like a human being. I have never experienced this anywhere else in town, and I have worked with other small businesses that can and will advocate for their employees. Lesser complaints: being on call sucks. They can lock your availability so if you need a day off, they will not allow for you to change your availability. Families can still book you for times earlier than what you indicate you’re available for. Families take advantage of you, expect you to clean their house and do all of their dishes throughout the day. Do not expect a thank you! They will book you for jobs 20+ miles away and offer very little in mileage reimbursement.
