Pros

- Good product and good employee discount. - Everything else is bad! Do yourself a favor and just stay away!

Cons

- Leadership Turnover: In ~3 years, there have been 3 CEOs and 3 CFOs (about to be a 4th, the last one just resigned) - Greedy private equity company/ownership drove the company to the ground. - Overworked and underpaid. When working cross-functionally with different departments, it's always a "I need it now" type environment. No time to learn and digest, it's "do it now" then succeed or fail. - High turnover in all departments. I've met some awesome colleagues, but management has turned them into different people. The high stress, sleep deprivation, and toxic work environment has turned them into irritable people or they just leave the company. I've heard in the accounting department that their accountants last about 3-4 months before quitting. All our departments continue to hire impulsively and we probably don’t have the funds to pay them. On top of that, we laid off a bunch of great people who worked at our retail stores just for them to compete with new applicants for open positions. I have no idea why we did not just hire from our existing employees. Lastly, I just heard we laid off most of the E-Commerce department. Literally, no one is safe, and I’m scared that I will be next! If you want the anxiety of being unemployed, join this company. - No company culture. I get we're in a pandemic, but if you like company events or get-togethers, this company doesn't have it. HR and C-suite need to get creative! My partner's company encourages to hop on Zoom and have drinks to catch up with coworkers at 4PM once in a while just to take a break from work. Maybe get the CEO to email everyone to have a company party or even just a company lunch and actually show up and acknowledge your employees. Small gestures like this will give confidence in your employees that you at least care or let them know you understand they are working hard. One last thing, the office is ugly and probably the worst office space I ever worked in. The bathrooms are small and disgusting. There is always urine on the floor. Please hire a maintenance company or a custodian team to clean throughout the day. - No work-life balance: expect requests and emails that come late at night or on the weekends. If you're looking for a 9-6PM type job, this is not the place. People at this company have no respect for your personal time or when you are on vacation. Don't also be surprised if you work during the holiday season. - If you're looking for a long-term career, don't come to this company. This place is held up by a bunch of band-aids ready to be replaced by new band-aids. C-suite is a revolving door so the guidance and direction of the company will never be clear.

Pros

Amazing product, meaningful company mission, compassionate people, generous employee discount, growing company, dogs allowed at headquarters.

Cons

Extreme disorganization from the top down, low pay for the work required, poor communication, zero work-life balance for managers, overworked kitchen staff, no established employee growth structure, over-involved Human Resources team, revolving door of executive leadership, overzealous expansion, nonexistent company culture.

Pros

JFFD changed my cat's life - the product, while expensive, truly works. Giving you a 70% discount is quite generous, and it makes it cheaper than most other options with the discount. I appreciated the flexibility of my role. My territory was mine to manage.

Cons

A private equity firm funding JFFD and a board of directors they appointed are deciding your fate? Run, don't walk, away from this company. When I started JFFD there were about 30 KAR's. 5 months into working, we were down to 15. I told myself that this provided an additional layer of job security, but that proved incorrect. 4 months after that I woke up to a "organizational meeting update" where the remaining 15 of us were let go. As one of the top performers, I was floored. In a sad attempt to save face, HR also made assurances that if we wanted to switch to retail (the kitchens), they'd make it happen. Low and behold, one of my coworkers tried this route and was denied the role. That is ultimately what the company does. Makes big promises to it's employees and it's customers that it can't keep. Speaking of baffling decisions, JFFD decided to export all their USA made dog treats to Mexico. The kicker? They did this knowing full well that tariffs were around the corner. The company just doesn't make logical business decisions. Finally, lets talk about the kitchens. In a day and age where corporations are dying to be rid of their physical space, JFFD decides they want to spend mass amounts of their budget making "dog hibachi" stores. Well, one store can't hurt - but how about 3 in Chicago all within 3 miles of each other? Just a ridiculous concept that failed logistically in Chicago as well as financially. The kitchen workers are understaffed and underpaid, and entitled customers yell at them daily.
