Mixed feelings on different Managers and Directors
Pros
I worked on some very interesting projects in various roles, including Project Manager, Data Analyst, AI SME, and Data Engineer in 2 years. Directors are often available to meet and provide good feedback on how to grow in my career. Directors know how to interact with clients well, even if they can be sleazy at times. At times work-life balance can be good. Everyone is very flexible on when you get your work done, assuming it gets done on time ( No hard 8-5). I had a couple of directors who I worked with who I highly value opinions, and I would happily work under them again.
Cons
It can be very political, depending on your department (which was my experience). First, I had one director who was sleazy and said all of the right things to keep you in their tree, even if you have expressed more interest in another line of work in your business unit. I had one director berate me in front of the larger KPMG engagement team for a minor mistake that didn't affect timelines...
