Pros

Great learning opportunities. Great potential for career development. For the size, can't complain about how the upper management manages the company (they actually do a pretty good job). Compared to other Big 4s, it appears KPMG generally has a better culture (less pressure, more friendly).

Cons

You have to be in the right team and work with the right people. Otherwise, you can be miserable (but, this is the case with any job!). Client facing jobs are always unpredictable and demanding, so work-life-balance can be a challenge sometimes.

Pros

It's a good place to get a known name on your resume.

Cons

If you have any intention of learning anything or moving up, be wary of staff augmentation engagements, particularly in the federal space, where you will be warehoused and forgotten about while the rest of the firm enjoys the spoils of the customary "just short of the mark" annual revenue result. Be prepared to leave in 2-3 years when you finally realize, that despite your best efforts, nobody really has an interest in seeing you move up or grow. The promotion/compensation roadmap is deliberately ambiguous and overly dependent on the oratory and case-making ability of an individual who may not even work with you and/or even have your best interests at heart. If you are veteran transitioning from active service, understand that even if well qualified, you are mere window dressing to satisfy a veteran hiring goal. You are behind your peers who did not serve, or serve as long, and you will stay behind, regardless of your experience, qualifications and education. Yes, I am a vet. If you are a glutton for punishment go to another Big 4 firm, at least you'll be paid better.
