Pros

Benefits are great. The opportunity to work with people at the top of their field, any support or advice you need is at the touch of your fingers, and as a whole, the company truly cares about their people. Overall I can say that I’m thankful and enjoyed my 7+ years with the firm...the hours can be long and the work is challenging...but you learn a ton and frankly, overtime is of the part of the deal when you’re in public accounting.

Cons

We’re talking about a Big 4 public accounting firm...obviously long hours for most of the year. Although they have tried to improve their 401(k) contributions, it’s still almost a joke at how little they are willing to match. Also, singles watch out...unless you have children, you can kiss work/life balance away. However, if you’re an accountant thinking about working at KPMG, don’t be mislead...this is standard across ALL public accounting firms. The adage is true — the PEOPLE you work with make the difference and the overtime, work, and benefits are pretty standard across the board.

Pros

KPMG has competitive benefits, salary rates, and work/life balance. Additionally, I felt like I was treated fairly by managers during the year-end review process and always felt as if I was putting out high-quality, sufficiently reviewed work.

Cons

The workload can be demanding at times, also as you progress through your career (specifically as an experienced associate or senior associate) you will end up managing new college hires which can present problems in some scenarios.

Pros

KPMG offers great experience and on-the-job training opportunities. The resources that this firm has on hand are tremendous.

Cons

Terrible work life balance. The firm treats its employees like disposable parts. No remorse, no emotion, just endless amounts of work.
