Thank you for taking the time to write a review of your experience. Since you indicated you are a current employee, please know that you are empowered to speak up about any problems you observe and become an active part of the solution. Our programs are accredited by The Joint Commission, considered the gold standard in healthcare, and KVC is trusted on a daily basis to help thousands of children and families in crisis. Maintaining this standard means we need every staff member helping to ensure effective, quality services. While this website provides a channel for anonymous feedback, it is more effective if you speak with your supervisor, the HR manager, or the Senior Director of KVC Prairie Ridge (Derrick Hurst, dhurst@kvc.org). He is very interested in speaking to you to learn more.
For several months, we’ve focused on addressing the many topics you mentioned. We’ve provided more support to our employees; increased administrative presence during evening, night and weekend hours; and increased the number of milieu managers. We’re also focused on training, engaging and retaining our staff who demonstrate compassion, innovation and skill in doing their job. While working overnight hours in a hospital is difficult and often uneventful, safety is our number one priority. Sleeping on the job is cause for immediate termination.
The employee handbook is available on the shared drive as well as our intranet; every employee provides their signature at time of hiring and once each year to affirm that they know how to access it. We provide digital access to the latest version so everyone has easy access.
We celebrate diversity among our staff and clients, and we also have high standards for cleanliness and professional values. We have a professional housekeeping service that keeps the campus clean, and we rely on our direct care staff to maintain that level of cleanness.
We have had the privilege of employing hundreds of behavioral health technicians and other direct care staff over the years. The most successful ones take ownership of their role, are committed to learning and excellence, and leverage their position to make a meaningful difference in people’s lives. It may encourage you to know that one of these former BHTs moved on to 20+ years of other leadership roles and is now our CEO, Jason Hooper. Thank you for taking the time to share and we hope you will join us in elevating our quality of care.
