Pros

SolutionStream has really helped me to start loving the field of Computer Science. I am surrounded by amazing developers and have learned a lot from the people I work with. SolutionStream takes care of all their employees, and makes you feel like you are an important asset to the company. They make me want to continue working here.

Cons

The only cons I would have to say are the cons that come with and custom solution shop, and that's the working at different locations and sometimes having only a handful of people in the office.

Pros

My spouse has health issues and this company has been amazingly flexible when it comes to me and my schedule and allowing me to work remote on occasions so that I can continue to care for her and continue to be a productive member of the team Also, since I am paid for every hour that I work, I'm able to occasionally work lots of extra hours to cover some of our bills.

Cons

Moving from project to project and client to client can sometimes be draining. To add to the problem there is a lack of consistency on tools and processes from project to project so it sometimes feels like I am reinventing the wheel every time I get a new assignment.

Pros

Solutionstream has some of the brightest people in our industry, you are constantly being stretched to the limits of your knowledge and experience. You have new exciting problems to work on, problems that others couldn't solve, that's why they hired a consultant. Solutionstream will not hold your hand for you and guide you through your career path, but they give you every opportunity to TAKE control of your career and guide it the way YOU see fit. They won't hold you hand and say, do this, now do this. They reward excellence, and actively seek people that are self motivators and have a deep drive to succeed and push the limits of their knowledge. Working for SolutionStream you can always guarantee that you will have the opportunity to be on the knifes edge of technology and it's implementation. If the thought of being so far on the edge both terrifies and excites you. Welcome to the family. We've been looking for you.

Cons

The type of work experience I described is not for everyone. And there will be periods of time that you are working on a legacy application doing old tech, and you may absolutely be miserable. But that time is limited, and those that learn that if they can slog through those crappy jobs, are usually rewarded by one of the "new hotness" projects. Timelines are short and much is expected. The people that succeed at SolutionStream are the ones that are willing to put in the time THEMSELVES to advance their career. Sometimes this makes for a stressful environment, but if you stick it out, you come out of it so much further along than your peers that just went to a conference on AngularJS, you will have an UNDERSTANDING of AngularJS so deep, you may even be tempted to be a contributor, and more importantly you will know when to use (and not to use) it. Some people thrive on a job where they can come in, learn a technology (or just use what they already know) and use that technology throughout their career. THIS IS NOT THE PLACE FOR YOU. SolutionStream is on the edge. If you do not want to constantly keep learning, you should probably look elsewhere.
