I wouldn’t say it’s the worst company

Pros

Casual work environment, plenty of PTO, could have a good future ahead, co-workers seem to really care and want to help, decent health insurance, no nightmare traffic to get into the office or drive home.

Cons

Company makes lots of major changes, the last being about a year ago, they seem to only be hiring in Carlinville now, unless you want to live in a small town with nothing to offer or drive a very long commute this is a major deal breaker, company used to have an open and honest policy, they have now become more closed off and no longer seem to back up what the announce, my one interaction with the CEO left me surprised by his choice of words (30 years ago that might have been acceptable but not in 2018)

Pros

Decent comp and benefits, although slightly below market. There is an attempt to reform the company and tech stack with a new CEO and aggressive hiring. Work space and hardware/software provided is good. Low cost of living in the area. Convenient location and commute.

Cons

Technology is sub-par. Many of the developers are definitely towards the junior end of the scale and the codebase reflects this. This may be a plus for developers starting their career. Senior devs beware. Bait and switch recruiting. Interviewed for job X, made it clear not interested in tech Y. Was placed in both a different role than interviewed for and also working almost exclusively on Y which isn't even on my resume. This extends to the "great culture" which was very quickly found to be the opposite. Poor communication, office politics, and very quick to provide exaggerated negative feedback over much or nothing. Very rural town. If you're young and looking for a social life this large downside. Visual basic. Despite recruiting C#. Absolutely no mention of such until after hire. Misleading. 25% match on 401k if that's important to you.

We always appreciate feedback. We take pride in being honest with where we are and the direction we are heading, especially in regard to our technology. We are sorry to hear that there was a disconnect for you on what a Team Lead role means here, and the diversity of the skill levels on teams, and we certainly wish you well in finding your next position.
