Pros
For techies, working at Karmak is great. As a software company, it's all about the software. You get to make meaningful contributions, your opinion is heard and respected. You're treated like a professional and a real team member. There were some real problems up until a couple years ago (as reflected in some of the older reviews). Since Karmak replaced the CEO and some other problematic management, it's fantastic now. Pacione, the current CEO, is a tech guy. He's passionate about the product and the company and the future, and that's impacting everything in the company. There's great work-life balance, reasonable hours, competitive pay and benefits, a laid back atmosphere, and a good amount of fun ... plus the opportunity to work with cool stuff and solve real problems.
Cons
Karmak is located in a small town, which is both a pro and a con. Want a five-minute commute to work? It's a pro. Want big-city features? You're in for a 60-90 minute drive. There's a really nice Walmart, but if you want a Starbucks or a decent steak, you're driving. Pros and cons. As for the company itself, though, it's hard to come up with much. It's not perfect, of course, but most of the downsides are pretty small compared to the positives.
